ENABLE Scotland member shortlisted for prestigious charity award
We are delighted to announce that ENABLE Scotland member, Bill Learmonth, has been shortlisted for a Charity Champion award at the Scottish Charity Awards 2012, ran by the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations.
Bill has devoted 43 years to ENABLE Scotland and we are thrilled that he has been recognised for his dedicated work.
When Bill’s daughter was born in with Down’s Syndrome in 1968, he was determined to make sure she had the best possible options in life. He contacted the Scottish Society for the Mentally Handicapped (SSMH) - known today as ENABLE Scotland - which began what has turned out to be 43 years of occupying a variety of high profile voluntary positions within the charity. Bill is well regarded as a champion for people who have a learning disability and their families throughout Scotland.
This year SCVO have introduced the People’s Choice – Heart & Soul Award, giving members of the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite shortlisted organisation or person.
