Jan Savage

Jan Savage, ​Executive Director, Campaigns and External Affairs

Jan, who became part of our executive team in May 2015, is a committed campaigner for the rights of disabled people and their families, with over a decade of experience working within our devolved institutions in Scotland to influence and effect positive change.  

Jan joined ENABLE Scotland in January 2013,  from National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) Scotland, where she had worked since 2007 to set up their policy and campaigns function in Scotland, and since 2010, as their Director, Scotland. Prior to this, she worked in the Scottish Parliament for six years, after graduating from Glasgow University with a First Class MA Hons in English Language and a passion for the study of language and communication development.  

Jan represents the interests of children and adults who have a learning disability on a number of external fora, including the Scottish Government Advisory Group on Additional Support for Learning, and has served on various working groups across the Scottish Government portfolios of health, education, equalities, and social care.  

She was a founding member of the For Scotland’s Disabled Children (fSDC) campaign coalition, with a special interest in additional support for learning legislation and practice.  Since joining ENABLE Scotland, Jan has been elected to the policy committee of SCVO, and also to serve as Chair of the Policy Committee of Disability Agenda Scotland (DAS).
