Putting your Fingerpritns on SDS

SDSSDS is fab!Michael Matherson MSP

Putting your Fingerprints on Self Directed Support was an event that took place in Edinburgh on 1 March to mark the passing of the SDS Bill through Parliament.

Public Health Minister, Michael Matheson MSP, joined 150 supporters who were keen to add their fingerprints and messages of support to the SDS bill by way of a ‘wall of commitment’.  Mr Matheson MSP wrote next to his set of fingerprints: “The journey now begins”.

Those in attendance included people who use self-directed support, family carers, local authorities, NHS staff and care and support providers.

The event was held in Dynamic Earth, just a few hundred yards from the Scottish Parliament where the SDS Bill is expected to become law in a year’s time.

Wall of Committment

At the fingerprint wall, people added their own thoughts on the Bill beside their fingerprints. The messages included:

  • "SDS is Fab"
  • "SDS @ the heart of people with people @ their heart"
  • "Looking forward to a changed Scotland for all of us"
