ENABLE Scotland responds to the Draft Bill for Self-directed Support

ENABLE Scotland has responded to the Scottish Government’s Draft Bill for Self-Directed Support. Many people who have learning disabilities are unhappy with the support services they currently receive. Personalisation will help them to take more control over the services they receive to give themselves a better chance of getting the support that is right for them and their family.

In our response we have highlighted our support for the objectives of the draft Bill, the need for clarity over how it will interact with other relevant legislation and our view that at times people who have learning disabilities could be best supported by close relatives and it would be to their detriment for this to be proscribed or restriced in law.
