New statistics released on the lives of people who have learning disabilities

Our colleagues from the Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability have released new statistics which give a detailed insight into the lives of people who have learning disabilities across Scotland.

The statistics reveal that 27,391 adults who have learning disabilities were known to Scottish local authorities in 2010.  Of this number:

  • 9,259 adults lived with family carers
  • 855 people had professional advocates
  • 2,326 people were in employment
