Learning disability in the family
Most people do not know anything about learning disability until it affects their own family. Because of this parents can have many worries – usually unfounded – about their child’s future.
It can help to talk to or get support from other parents of children with learning disabilities – who will understand your hopes and fears and be able to dispel some of the myths.
The attached information sheets were written by parent members of ENABLE Scotland’s Young Families Support Network to let you know that other parents share your experiences and to put you in touch with services and support.
ENABLE Scotland is always keen to hear from parents and to find out how we can support you. If you have a school-age or younger child you might want to join our Young Families Support Network.
We support older families too and all families can contact our ENABLE Direct enquiry line on 0300 0200 101 for information and advice.
