Glasgow’s 150ft Free Fall Fundraiser
On the 7th May thrill seekers can abseil from Glasgow’s 150 ft TITAN CRANE with all money raised going to the charity ENABLE Scotland. To take part in this once in a lifetime experience participants need only pay a £20 registration fee and raise £95 in sponsorship.
The Titan Crane has stood on the banks of the River Clyde for over 100 years and is a prominent landmark on Glasgow’s skyline. Almost 400 people from all over Scotland have already experienced a free fall from the crane since 2009 and in doing so have raised over £70,000 for ENABLE Scotland.
No experience is necessary as all training will be given on the day by qualified instructors.
Ross Ward from Helensburgh, ENABLE Scotland’s Corporate Development Ambassador, will undertake his 9th abseil from the crane in May. He said: “I love the adrenaline rush and the atmosphere. My most memorable experience was abseiling to the tune of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain, BBC’s Formula One theme tune”.
ENABLE Scotland’s Events Fundraiser Kat Borrowdale said: "Ross raised over £1,500 with his first abseil back in 2009, and since then he's been coming back for more and conquered the Titan many times over! He is one of the best ambassadors ENABLE Scotland could hope for - it's made him a bit of a local legend."
