Assessor Training for SVQs in Care

This course is for people who wish to become a Workplace Assessor for Health and Social Care Awards.

You must have a qualification in the occupational area that you wish to assess and at least a minimum of 3 years experience. You will need to hold a qualification above the level you are assessing i.e. hold SVQ 3 to assess SVQ 2. You will also be expected to achieve the A1 Assessors Award.
This course consists of a mix of information and practical sessions that will explore the tools of assessment and evidence gathering to meet Awarding Body Requirements.

You will cover:

  • A detailed introduction to the Principles and Practices of Assessment within the SVQ framework
  • The role and responsibilities of the Workplace Assessor
  • How to motivate, support and encourage candidates in the Assessment Process
  • Who's who in the SVQ Framework
  • Assessment Planning
  • How to fulfill the Workplace Assessor role within the regulations.

Workplace Assessors are required to meet on a quarterly basis to standardise practices; any assessor who misses 3 or more meetings will be required to retrain, irrespective of achievement of Assessor's Award. Assessors must also keep an up to-date portfolio of training undertaken to satisfy CPD requirements.
