Only 1 in 7 people with a learning disability receive some form of support from a local authority, which means 86% are not getting the support they need. ENABLE Scotland is here for everyone – wherever you are.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, less than 1 in 3 people we spoke to who have a learning disability could name a close friend. We know that the impacts of the virus and lockdown have only made feelings of loneliness and isolation worse, and this is why our members asked us to develop ACE Connect.
This innovative online support community provides a safe, online space to stay connected with friends, fellow ENABLE Scotland members and the ACE team, with three core aspects of support:-
- Online content for entertainment, physical and mental stimulation, information, and advice.
- Support via Facebook chat and by telephone – there is always someone to talk to.
- A helpline 0300 303 1928 for emotional support available for members between the hours of 09.00 and 19.00, Monday – Friday.
This support is always facilitated by our skilled team who are here to help you, with more immediate support available for people who are really struggling to cope – you are not alone.
