Edinburgh disability jobs partnership celebrates five years of success

Over 3,000 disabled people supported to find work in Edinburgh through innovative partnership programme All in Edinburgh.

All in Edinburgh is a collaborative project between ENABLE Scotland, Into Work, The Action Group and Forth Sector, funded by City of Edinburgh Council.

Established in 2014, the consortium works together to support disabled people into work through a successful five step model which:

  •  Engages with potential local employees
  •  Maps their ambitions and skills to job profiles
  •  Matches and finds job opportunities in the city of Edinburgh
  •  Engages with employers to support them through the recruitment process
  •  Continues to provide support to the employee and employer once in the job

To date, All in Edinburgh has supported over 3,000 people who have a learning disability, physical disability, mental health problem, autism spectrum disorder, visual impairment, hearing loss to get and keep jobs in the city.

In addition, the All in Edinburgh consortium delivers a welfare rights service to support participants to financial independence, with 650 people gaining support over the lifetime of the project to date – delivering almost £1.9 million in direct financial gains for job seekers.

The innovative consortium approach operates on a ‘no closed door policy’ and supports job seekers to find the support that suits them best via the partners involved in the consortium – making it easier for individuals to get the support that suits their needs best.

Commenting on the milestone celebration on behalf of the All in Edinburgh consortium, Jamie Rutherford, Director of Employability for ENABLE Scotland said:

Everyone deserves the opportunity to earn a living. Working is more than a monthly salary for some. It means the confidence and independence to lead they life that they choose. However, the path to employment is not always easy. Having a disability creates countless challenges when finding a job. Without help, overcoming these barriers can feel impossible – that’s where All In Edinburgh comes in.

The success of the model is down to the strength of our partners, and our no closed-door policy. The only criteria for individuals to access All in Edinburgh is the desire to find work!


The All in Edinburgh consortium partners are coming together to celebrate success at an event at Edinburgh City Chambers on Wednesday 13th November 2019. Speaking ahead of the event, local MSP Jeremy Balfour, who is Convenor of the Cross Party Group on Disability, said:

I am delighted to support the All in Edinburgh consortium. Within five years the programme ha helped over 3,000 people – and counting – into the workplace and supporting an inclusive local economy. I congratulate all involved, and look forward to many more successes for All in Edinburgh and the local people it has supported into work.
