ENABLE Scotland and Me
I was asked to write something about how being part of the Ayr Branch, and part of ENABLE Scotland has touched my life.
I think it is more than that. I think being part of these things has shaped my life.
When I look back at a lot of the big events in my life, the Ayr Branch and ENABLE Scotland have had a part to play. Such as the first time I drove outside of my local area: this was to go to Glasgow for an ACE meeting!
ENABLE Scotland is also the place where I met my Fiancé, Kerry, and a lot of life-long friends.
Elizabeth & Francis, from the Ayr branch, have always been by my side, guiding me for as long as I can remember. When I was ill with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, they were there to make sure I got everything I needed. I am certain I would have been pushing up the daisies if it wasn’t for them.
We had a trip to Rome, which I would describe as a wonderful calamity, but I will always smile thinking back on it – you have not had ice cream until you have had it in Rome!
Now that I am part of the Branch, and of ACE, and employed by ENABLE Scotland – you can safely say I am part of the woodwork. And I don’t plan on going anywhere else…
