AGM & Annual Conference 2020
Friday November 27th saw our first ever digital AGM and Annual Conference.
We had a tremendous turnout from staff and members to hear the AGM reports and participate in the Q&A with our Group CEO, Finance Director and Chair of the Board of Trustees.
The afternoon’s conference session heard the Scottish Government’s Minister for Mental Health, Clare Haughey MSP, commend the outstanding work of all ENABLE Scotland’s staff on the frontline and across the charity as she delivered the Morven Wood Memorial Address.
There was a challenging discussion of the rights of people who have a learning disability to be supported out of hospital or institutional settings and into homes of their own, featuring two human rights champions; ENABLE Scotland Trustee Beth Morrison, and award-winning journalist, Ian Birrell.
The future of social care and support after the COVID-19 pandemic was the topic of discussion for an expert panel featuring Dr Tracy Sanderson of NHS Lothian, Dr Simon Duffy of the Centre for Welfare Reform, and John Dalrymple of Radical Visions.
We hope all our members, staff and supporters who tuned in to the event found it interesting, and a huge thank you to all of you who took part.
