Virtual physical activity

Love to get moving? Maybe you’re itching for a challenge to help you get fit and give back.

Either way, a virtual physical activity fundraiser could be perfect for you.

Here are a few examples to get the ideas flowing:

  • Virtual treadmill run. 5k, 10k, 20k, maybe even a marathon!
  • Virtual cycle on an exercise bike. You could try a distance or even a time frame like 12 hours if you’re feeling brave…
  • Virtual row. Prefer using a rowing machine? Why not try rowing a marathon or setting a lofty km goal to achieve over the course of a month.
  • Burpees. Burpees are like marmite, except NOBODY likes burpees. That said, a burpee challenge could be a great way to raise money. Think you can endure a few hundred for a good cause? We’ll be cheering you on!

Donate for your birthday

Already own everything you need? Cupboards, wardrobes and drawers all packed to the brim?

If this sounds like you, you should consider asking people to donate to charity in place of receiving a birthday present.

You can champion a good cause and enjoy the feel-good factor of helping others without increasing the clutter!

Virtual Kiltwalk

We love our Kiltwalks! They’re an opportunity to hang with friends and family, meet like-minded folk, get your fancy dress on and have some fun.

But, if you find you can’t attend an in-person event – or don’t fancy braving the unpredictable British weather (we wouldn’t blame you) – a virtual Kiltwalk is a great alternative.

Declutter and donate

If you’ve got a house full of clutter you’re desperate to ditch, this fundraising idea’s for you.

Sell any old stuff you don’t need on platforms like eBay, Debop or Facebook Marketplace and then donate your earnings or a portion of them to charity.

Don’t forget to make the most of all that extra space once you’re done. You might find you’ve finally got room for those at-home workouts or yoga classes you’ve been waiting to start!

Virtual event

Fancy yourself as a part-time host or event organiser? Why not try your hand at hosting a virtual event.

Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling:

    • Virtual concert. Know a few local bands or artists who’d love to support a good cause? Get them together for an online performance and donate the ticket proceeds to charity.
    • Virtual stand up. Give your funny pals the chance to test their best jokes with a virtual stand up event. As with the concert, you can charge for tickets and donate the proceeds!
    • Virtual reading. Lover of literature? Perhaps you even write your own poetry or short stories. If that’s the case, why not use those skills to raise a few pennies for charity with a poetry or short story reading?
  • Virtual exhibition. Get your creative friends and family together for a virtual art exhibit. If you’re feeling extra modern, you could even go the NFT route!

Virtual games

Who could forget lockdown pub quizzes? While they might not be as popular now, they’re still a great option for people in search of digital fundraising ideas.

In fact, we say why stop at pub quizzes? People love all sorts of interactive games!

Here are a few virtual game night ideas to get the creative juices flowing:

  • Virtual bingo
  • Virtual board game night
  • Virtual dance off
  • Virtual pub quiz night
  • Virtual video game competition
  • Virtual escape room

Virtual classes and workshops

Next Masterchef? Expert pianist? Painting extraordinaire?

If you’ve got a hidden talent, there are bound to be people out there who’d love to learn your skills. So, teaching them in a virtual class or workshop is bound to get some interest.

Set up the event, set your price and then donate the proceeds. Talk about using your powers for good!

Here are a few creative class and workshop ideas:

  • Cooking class
  • Dance class
  • Music class
  • Art class
  • Public speaking class
  • Business skills class
  • Meditation workshop
  • Yoga workshop
  • Exercise class

Get crafty

And, by that, we don’t mean sneaky, we mean creative!

It doesn’t matter whether you like to sew, knit, build, saw, hammer, smash, draw, paint or twang.

So long as you can create a desirable product people can buy, you’re onto a winner.

Either use social channels or auction sites to sell your wares and donate a portion of the proceeds – or all if you’re feeling generous! – to charity.

Our favourite craft ideas:

  • Clothing
  • Toys
  • Gardenware (birdhouses, plant pots, etc)
  • Paintings
  • Prints
  • Photography

Charity lottery

If you’re always busy, you might prefer a hands-off virtual fundraising idea. That way, you can still do some good, without eating up your free time.

If the above sounds like you, we’d highly recommend joining a charity lottery like the Enable Scotland Lottery.

All you need to do is select the number of tickets you want and choose your numbers. The best part? You’ll be in with a chance of winning various prizes each month. Win-win!

In Enable’s lottery, for instance, a £1 per entry puts you in with a chance of winning a whopping £25k!
