What our members do

As a member-led charity, the views of our members are what matter most. You lead our campaigns, strengthen our position on policy matters and help govern the charity.

We know people don’t always listen to you, but we’re here to help make sure you are heard. If people ignore you, or dismiss you, we will stand up for you. That’s what we do.

Our member-led activism groups and committees provide us with a way to find out your views and make your voice heard. Together, we will work towards an equal society for every person who has a learning disability.

Read John’s story below, and find out where his journey as an ENABLE Scotland member has taken him so far.

Man who has a learning disability speaking to politicians at Westminster

“Being part of ENABLE Scotland gives me the chance to speak out about issues that matter to me.

I went to Westminster and spoke in front of MPs. I told them: I have a learning disability and I can make a difference. I can say what needs to be said and make things change.

Everybody in society has needs and it’s important that everyone’s needs are met. Life with a learning disability isn’t easy, but by being a member and campaigner with ENABLE Scotland, I realised that I really can make a difference, I can change things.”John Clarke
