Committees

Scottish Council

Scottish Council is a group of 30 elected ENABLE Scotland members who help our Board of Trustees decide what ENABLE Scotland should do.

The group meets four times a year and includes members who have a learning disability, parents and carers, Trustees and Branch members.

The role of the council is to make sure our organisational position is always in line with the views of our members.

Parents and Carers Committee

Our Parents and Carers Committee (PCC) is made up of members who are interested in issues affecting adults who have a learning disability and their families.

They look at Scottish Government policy on key issues such as:

  • improved day services
  • access to employment for people who have a learning disability
  • short breaks for people who have a learning disability and their carers
  • emergency and future planning for family carers.

The PCC proactively works to make life better for people who have a learning disability by gathering evidence to help support our campaigns.

Young Families Support Committee

Our Young Families Support Committee (YFSC) focuses on issues affecting the lives of children or young people who have a learning disability and their families.

They look at policy matters and  how to make sure the views of parents and carers of children and young people who have a learning disability are properly represented.

Members of this committee are either parents or carers themselves, or individuals who have a professional or personal understanding of issues affecting children and young people who have a learning disability and their families.
