Breaking Barriers Partners
University of Strathclyde Business School
Breaking Barriers students take part in an 8 week business skills course alongside access to a specialist ENABLE Scotland learning coordinator.
Our learning coordinator spends time with the students to create a personalised learning plan, and shares this with tutors before the successful candidates even step foot in the University.
This helps the students plan their journey to the University, they will spend 4 weeks at Strathclyde University, getting to know the campus.
Students will have access to a peer mentor, who has been trained by ENABLE Scotland to help the students settle in to University life, including creating social opportunities to meet other students.
Students take part in a Business Skills Course where they will learn about three key skills: Digital Marketing and Social Media; Working with People; and Customer Service.
Following their business skills course, the students will then have an 8 week work experience placement with Scottish Power in Glasgow, with the learning coordinator still present through every step of the way.
At the end of their placement, the students will be supported to produce a portfolio of evidence of the work they have completed which is assessed by the University.
After the programme is complete, the students will then Graduate from the University of Strathclyde Business School with an Applied Business Skills qualification, ready to take on the world!
