Personal Assistants have the most important role within ENABLE Scotland by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!

Each person we support has different support needs, so your role may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.

ENABLE Scotland creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.

The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me

The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. A career with ENABLE Scotland is as rewarding as it is diverse, Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.

Let us introduce you to Sarah and Rob:

Sarah is a bright  young woman who is taking a big step and moving out of her family home, Sarah loves to be part of everything around her.  She has a complex learning disability and requires full support to enable her to live her best life.  She loves being outdoors and being kept busy, she has lots of energy and loves music. She also loves being pampered and to look her best. Her family are very important to herand this will be a huge change for Sarah and her family. Sarah needs routine and to be given choices.  She loves to be  aware of what's going onat all times. She can be strong willed as lots of young people are.  She needs a team who like to talk and keep her happy. Sarah can walk , however she likes to use her wheelchair when things get a bit too much for her. Sarah needs help with all aspects of daily life including personal care. Sarah does not usually sleep all night and requires some support during this time.

Rob is a happy and fun loving character who enjoys socialising, watching films and listening to music.  Rob enjoys going out a run in his car or for a walk around his local area in his wheelchair. Rob has a complex learning disability and requires full support to help him live as independently as possible.  Rob requires assistance with all aspects of daily life including personal care and feeding.  Rob normally sleeps soundly throughout the night and only needs minimal support during these hours.

Sarah and Rob share a house and require a wakened nightshift to help support any needs they may have during the night.
