New champion role for ACE Member
ENABLE Scotland and ACE and member Joanne Devitt has today been reappointed as a Member of the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland.
Minister for Transport, Graeme Dey MSP, made the announcement today.
Joanne, together with Michael Tornow, will continue the role for the next four years until 2025.
Joanne Devitt is actively involved with ACE and ENABLE Scotland. ACE is an Active Community of Empowered people with learning disabilities, who challenge barriers to an equal society for every person with a learning disability in every community across Scotland.
Elected by her local Elgin ACE members to represent their group at national ACE meetings, Joanne has a great understanding of local and national issues for disabled people. Joanne’s focus, both locally in the Moray area and nationally, is about transport, especially access to accessible buses, for people with a disability. Joanne champions the views and the needs of people who have disabilities at national and local meetings including meetings with Transport Scotland and the Scottish Commission for Learning Disability.
Joanne’s lived experiences means she is able to give first first-hand knowledge of the barriers faced when using transport. She will be joined in the role with Michael Tornow, a Senior Health Improvement Officer at NHS Health Scotland.
Congratulations on your important new role for our members.
