01 December 2025
This year’s event brought together colleagues from Enable’s three pillars: Enable Cares (health and social care), Enable Works (employability and training), and Enable Communities (member-led campaigning).
Together, members heard reports from Enable CEO Theresa Shearer FRSE, the Members’ Report by Enable member Ivan Cohen; and a Campaign Report on Access for All, focussed on Article 30 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) presented by Enable member Lucy McKee.
The Annual Members Meeting was hosted by Kirsty Kennedy-Hyman, co-chair of our National Self-Advocacy Forum and journalist and activist, Michael McEwan. The Morven Wood Memorial address was delivered by Dr Simon Duffy, the Director of Citizen Network. A social innovator focused on equality and citizenship, Simon campaigns for human rights and social justice. His work focuses on the ideal of citizenship and how each of us can be fully equal and unique.
The day wrapped up with our annual Member Awards, celebrating the work and outstanding contributions across our three pillars and membership, all of whom have worked with energy and inspiration throughout the year to enrich the lives of those we serve.
The Enable Awards gives us the opportunity to show our appreciation and celebrate the outstanding and inspiring work of both our members and our staff this year. Congratulations to our winners, our nominees, and to all those who have lived Enable’s values, demonstrating through doing, to make a real difference to people’s lives.
