Enable took part in Glasgow’s Kiltwalk 2026, the first Kiltwalk of the Year, with events in Aberdeen, Dundee, and Edinburgh still to come.

This year’s Glasgow’s Kiltwalk welcomed 20,000 big-hearted Kiltwalkers, raising £4.3 million (and counting) for 1,111 Scottish charities. Enable was proud to be among the charities represented at this inspiring fundraising event.

Colleagues and supporters from across Enable took part in the two-day event on the 25 and 26 April. From the big stroll to the wee wander and the mighty strides, Enable was well represented throughout the weekend.

Around 175,000 people in Scotland have a learning disability, yet fewer than 25,000 receive formal support through their local authority. Through our work, Enable delivers specialist information, advice and advocacy, community-based support and human-rights inspired member-led campaigns for change, helping to bridge this gap.

Thanks to the commitment of Enable’s Kiltwalkers and the generous support of those who donated and supporters and messages of encouragement, Enable can continue this vital work.  This year, Enable is focused on making sport and culture truly inclusive and accessible for all, in line with Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (#UNCRPD).

Over the weekend, it was reported that a total of 6,000 heroes walked from Clydebank to Balloch on the Saturday before another 14,000 heroes took to the streets and paths from Glasgow Green and Clydebank all the way to the finish line at Loch Lomond on Sunday 25th.

The momentum continues, with the next Kiltwalk taking place in Aberdeen on 7 June. Participants are already looking ahead to another memorable day, welcoming familiar faces and new walkers alike to be part of the experience.
