SVQ Success Story 2026 Web Post

The Enable SQA Centre has been rated 'High Confidence' for another year by Qualification Scotland.

The Enable SVQ Centre has been rated ‘High Confidence’ for another year by Qualification Scotland.

The Centre has successfully completed its qualification verification providing confirmation and quality assurance criteria in line with national standards. It was rated High Confidence across all three key areas: Resources, Candidate Support, Internal Assessment and Verification.

Every year, around 90 to 100 Enable colleagues take an important step in their careers by completing a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ). For many, it is much more than a qualification, it is a chance to build confidence, gain recognition for the skills they already use every day and open the door to new opportunities.

This year, within all areas, the centre received was found to be fully compliance across all key criteria, with all areas receiving a "Green" rating, and feedback confirmed that the team are operating at a consistently high standard, with effective processes and strong practice in place.

Candidate feedback has been critical to the success of the Centre. Kylie Hainey, Service Manager East Ayrshire Services, is currently completing a Level 4 award.

She said: "I was extremely nervous at the start  as I felt more practical than academic. However my assessor has used various assessment methods to support me including weekly office check-ins, which makes me feel more confident to progress to completion."

Staff work towards qualifications to achieve nationally recognised qualifications tailored to their role including:

·       - Personal Assistants complete the SVQ Level 2 in Social Services

·      -  Healthcare (SCQF Level 6)

·     -  Team Facilitators undertake the SVQ Level 3 alongside the PDA in Health and Social Care Supervision (SCQF Level 7)

·      - Service Managers complete the SVQ Level 4 with the Care Services Leadership and Management qualification (SCQF Level 10).

These qualifications support Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration while helping colleagues continue to develop professionally.

Lead SVQ Coordinator and Verifier Linda Casey said:

"People often begin the programme feeling overwhelmed or unsure if they can achieve the qualification. Seeing that grow into confidence and pride is why we do what we do. Some people arrive believing education isn't for them and then go on to achieve something they never thought possible."

The report reflects the delivery of high-quality support, learning and assessment for colleagues across Enable.
