Information about UNISON strike action

As reported in the media on Thursday 15 May 2025, UNISON has announced when its members employed by Enable will go on strike.

The strike action does not affect every area; it will take place on the following areas and dates:

Thursday 29 May:         East Renfrewshire Services

Monday 2 June:            Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray Services

Thursday 5 June:          Ayrshire Services

Monday 9 June:            Lanarkshire Services and Central Services staff

Thursday 12 June:        Glasgow, Edinburgh, West Lothian and East Lothian services

Enable is disappointed by the decision to strike, particularly given UNISON’s confirmation that Enable is ‘one of the better employers in the care sector’ and their statement that this is a ‘dispute by proxy’ with the Scottish Government over funding levels.

However, we also recognise that employees have a right to take industrial action. We are therefore working positively with UNISON to minimise the adverse impact of the strike action on the people supported by Enable.
