    Charlie Newlands MBE, JP (Ret) - Scottish Council Elected Trustee

    Charlie Newlands combined a career in building services with extensive public service, including 25 years as a justice of the peace and magistrate. He continues to play a central role in the ENABLE Scotland family.

    Charlie became the secretary of ENABLE Scotland’s Renfrew branch 48 years ago and he was elected to sit on our Board of Trustees from our Scottish Council. His extensive service to the charity saw him awarded honorary life membership in 2012.

    He has also contributed to international and local charitable activities, including trips to Sierre Leone to help build a hospital and school. His contribution to the town of Renfrew led to an award of ‘Citizen of the Year’ in 1993 and an MBE in 2004.
