Developing employment skills

Gaining the skills and confidence that will help you get a job in the future is an important part of growing up.

Every young person deserves the chance to develop these skills and discover their talents and ambitions.

Every day, ENABLE Works supports young people who have a learning disability to try out different jobs and gain new skills and experience.

Our development programmes are all about getting young people ready for work – with support every step of the way.

Our team will get to know you, help you decide on the type of work you want to do, and support you to find the job that’s right for you.

Meet Hayley and find out how support from ENABLE Works has helped her learn new skills and think about her career goals:

“I’m Hayley. I was a school leaver in 2016. I didn’t enjoy my time at school and when I left I didn’t feel positive about the future. College wasn’t for me, but I wanted to work and become independent.

Then I met Emma from ENABLE Works and things changed. Emma helped me think about my goals, what type of work I wanted to do and focus on developing key skills like managing money and travelling independently.

I started volunteering with a charity shop and now I’m looking forward to building a career in retail. When I think about the future now, I think ‘bring it on!’”
