At just 24, Bethany Allen is already helping to shape the future of care at Enable, earning her the accolade of Young Employee of the Year 2025. Her journey reflects not only professional progression, but also a deep commitment to improving the lives of others.

Bethany began her career as a Personal Assistant, gaining hands-on experience supporting individuals to achieve their goals and build greater independence. From the outset, her focus has remained on delivering person-centred care and her motivation has always been rooted in purpose.

“What first drew me to this line of work was the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives during moments when they need support the most,” Bethany said. “I felt a role in caring was the most suitable line of work for me.”

That sense of purpose continues to drive her, even through challenges. “I know the work we do has a real impact, and we can genuinely help someone feel seen and supported,” she added.

This combination of compassion, authenticity and dedication has made Bethany a valued team member. Her natural leadership qualities and willingness to take initiative contributed to her progression into the role of Team Facilitator.

“When I first stepped into the role as a Team Facilitator, I was nervous as I wanted to do well and support the team in the best way I could. It was definitely a learning curve as I adjusted to the responsibilities and expectations.”

Over time, those early nerves developed into confidence: “I’ve grown to trust my instincts more, communicate more effectively, and lead with greater understanding. The role has challenged me in positive ways and helped me grow not only as a professional, but as a person too.”

Her willingness to embrace challenges, support colleagues and continuously develop her skills has made her a standout member of the team. These qualities, combined with her commitment to high-quality care, contributed to her recognition as Young Employee of the Year 2025.

Bethany remains focused on ongoing growth and development. “I feel I have developed and grown over the past year both personally and professionally,” she said. “Professionally, I’ve strengthened my communication and problem-solving skills during difficult situations, while personally I’ve learned the importance of balance and self-reflection.

Gemma McTaggart, Service Manager for Enable Cares, explains why Bethany's future within the organisation is incredibly bright.

“I see Bethany continuing to grow and develop in her career and becoming more influential within the organisation as her knowledge and skillset develop. Bethany consistently demonstrates dedication, a strong willingness to learn, and a committed passion to the people we support. These attributes will support Bethany’s continuous professional development. I do believe Bethany has the potential to make a lasting impact and has an enormous amount to offer.”

Bethany’s story is one of passion, determination and progression. As she continues her journey with Enable, she represents the values of the next generation of care professionals - bringing compassion, ambition and a commitment to making a meaningful difference every day as we strive for a society where everyone has the right to live, work and participate in the communities of their choice.
