Enable, Scotland’s leading charity for people with learning disabilities, attended the Europe in Action conference in Vicenza, Italy.
Hosted by Inclusion Europe and Anffas, the event brings together members and self-advocates from across 39 European countries, representing 20 million people with learning disabilities.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Individualised, Personalised and Participatory Life”. It focused on supporting people to live independently, be included in their communities, and receive person-centred support. It also highlighted areas where action on rights is still urgently required.
Enable is a founding member of Inclusion Europe.
Enable Membership Ambassador Lucy McKee said:
“Europe in Action brings self-advocates together from across Europe to share experiences, facts and ideas, and to work together to make life better for people with learning disabilities. We work towards achieving an equal society where everyone has the right to live, work and participate in the communities of their choice, and this was an excellent opportunity to share our message and learning on an international stage.” - Read Lucy's blog here.
