Mari Galletly had always known of Enable in her local area. She joined us in 2005, in a frontline role supporting a young lady to live independently in her community. She realised quickly that she had found her calling, and her career.
Within a year or so, I was promoted to a Team Lead post, and developed my skills and experience in leading and developing teams, partnership working, recruitment and induction, and increasing the number of people we support.
I was so proud in 2011 to be promoted to services manager with responsibility for the north east of Scotland, at a time when we were rolling out our PA Model, which I just love. It was so rewarding to be part of designing a new way of working which built on the values and principles of self-directed support, putting people right at the heart of every team. As well as supporting frontline teams and growth, I also was supported to develop my project and financial management skills, building my experience and confidence as a leader.
I was promoted into a regional manager post in 2016, and today I’m a regional director – the lead senior post accountable for quality, growth and development. I’m working towards an MBA at the University of Strathclyde Business school. I am so lucky to have found that the job I loved has become the career I love – and Enable has supported me on that journey every step of the way.
